Welcome! The mission of the PTA is to improve the education provided to DLS students by supporting the school and its activities. The PTA helps to fund a wish list of items from the school as well as many additional activities that make our school such a wonderful place. The success of the PTA is directly linked to the participation of parents, so we strongly encourage everyone to be involved this year.

When you join the DLS PTA with your annual $15 fee, you make great events like Night Market and Kickball Tournament possible. Without insurance, purchased with PTA membership fee funds, fun PTA events cannot take place.

How do I get Involved?

The PTA is a volunteer-driven organization. There are many ways to be involved. There are activities that can accommodate any schedule and skill set. Each family is asked to volunteer 15 hours every school year.
Click here to learn more. Joining the PTA counts as one hour - get started here!

What do you get when you join the DLS PTA with your annual $15 fee? Membership in a community dedicated to your child’s education and growth. Support the DLS PTA, the Colorado PTA, and your child’s community by signing up online here.

Please volunteer!

Parent involvement at DLS school is the key to making our school the best it can be. Each family at DLS is required to volunteer a minimum of 15 hours per year. Start volunteering now to be sure you reach this requirement.

UPDATED: "Wait Until 8th": Smartphone Pledge Program Gaining Momentum at DLS

Following up on our successful Screenagers viewing and discussion a couple of weeks back, we heard from many parents that they feel more confident and better equipped to establish balance around screen time. Screenagers is about the impact of the digital age on children and how to help them minimize harmful effects and find balance.

In that vein, a related resource/action plan is the Wait Until 8th pledge. This resource was created to help parents delay giving smartphones to our kids. The pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least 8th grade, with the idea being that, by banding together, there will be less pressure felt by kids and parents alike over the kids having a smartphone.

Note: This pledge is for smartphones only! If you would like your child to have a basic phone that just calls and texts, you still can sign the pledge. The basic phone avoids many of the distractions and dangers of the smartphone.

A pledge becomes "active" once 10 or more families from a grade at a school sign. The organizers designed the pledge this way so you don't have to fear "what if I am the only parent that signs this in my kid's grade??". This takes the pressure off because the pledge only kicks in once at least 10 families sign from your grade.

So far, the following numbers from K-6th have signed the pledge.

  • Kinder:   4 pledges - 1 pledge away!
  • 1st:         7 pledges
  • 2nd:       11 pledges - Now active!
  • 3rd:        5 pledges
  • 4th:        12 pledges - Now active
  • 5th:        12 pledges - Now active!
  • 6th:         3 pledges
  • 7th:         2 pledges

To learn more and sign the pledge, visit www.waituntil8th.org.

Please Donate To The Place Bridge Academy Uniform Drive

Many kids at Place Bridge Academy still need uniforms - can you help?

Place Bridge Academy is a local school that has more than 1,000 students in grades ECE-4 through 8th grade, 98% of who qualify for free or reduced lunch and 85% of who speak a language other than English at home. As a designated newcomer center, more than 60 different languages and over 40 different countries from around the world are represented in the student body.

Since PBA doesn’t have its own parent-teacher organization, DLS is reaching out to help support our neighbors with their needs. The kids at PBA wear uniforms, but many have just one or two that they wear throughout the week. The DLS PTA is continuing to ask for donations of new and used clothing in good condition for ages 4 through 13.

  • Khaki pants
  • Khaki shorts
  • Khaki jumpers
  • Polo shirts - white, navy blue, and baby blue colors only (no logo needed)
  • Athletic shoes in plain colors such as black or grey
  • Winter clothing and outerwear
  • Winter boots

There are collection bins at both DLS West and DLS East. Please make sure all clothing is washed and in good condition prior to drop off, and thank you!

Support the Staff Gift Fund!

Through the Staff Gift Fund, the PTA handles the distribution of teacher and staff gifts three times per year (winter holidays, Lunar New Year, and Fiesta Hispanica/end of the year). We still need about $2,000 in contributions to meet our fundraising goal. Please show your appreciation for those who dedicate themselves to your child’s future and donate to the Staff Gift Fund. Recommended donation is $50 per student to the fund, but welcome contributions of any size and we understand that may not be feasible for all families.

You can submit your donation online or bring a check made out to DLS PTA to either campus and put it in the PTA lockbox. Please note on your check that the money is for the Gift Fund. Thanks for supporting our teachers and staff!

Thanks in advance for your support!
