Welcome! The mission of the PTA is to improve the education provided to DLS students by supporting the school and its activities. The PTA helps to fund a wish list of items from the school as well as many additional activities that make our school such a wonderful place. The success of the PTA is directly linked to the participation of parents, so we strongly encourage everyone to be involved this year.

When you join the DLS PTA with your annual $15 fee, you make great events like Night Market and Kickball Tournament possible. Without insurance, purchased with PTA membership fee funds, fun PTA events cannot take place.

How do I get Involved?

The PTA is a volunteer-driven organization. There are many ways to be involved. There are activities that can accommodate any schedule and skill set. Each family is asked to volunteer 15 hours every school year.

What do you get when you join the DLS PTA with your annual $15 fee? Membership in a community dedicated to your child’s education and growth. Support the DLS PTA, the Colorado PTA, and your child’s community by signing up online here.

UPDATED: Holiday Warm Clothing and Gift Drive for DLS Families

Thank you to all of you who have signed up to help with the DLS warm clothing and gift drive! We are supporting 40 DLS families in need this year with winter clothing, gifts, and gift cards. We could still use some gift cards to places like Wal-mart, King Soopers, etc. If you’d like to help out please sign up here.

We will be wrapping most of these gifts on Monday, Dec. 18, in the multipurpose room at West, starting at 8:15. If you can help out, let us know you’re coming by signing up here. Last year we were a little short handed and it took a while. Please come if you can, even if you can’t stay long. We have so many gifts to wrap! It’ll go quickly if we have a lot of people. We are also looking for help with transporting gifts between campuses on the 18th.

If you’ve signed up to help with gifts, please deliver them to either campus or to Kathryn Blackburn’s house, or bring them with you to the wrapping party on Dec. 18. Make sure to mark who each item is intended for.

If you have any questions, contact Kathryn Blackburn at kacblackburn@gmail.com.

Clothing Drive for Place Bridge Academy - Uniforms Still Needed

We still need uniforms for Place Bridge Academy - can you help?

Place Bridge Academy is a magnet school in the Denver Public School district that the Denver Language School PTA is looking to partner with. PBA has more than 1,000 students in grades ECE-4 through 8th grade.  As a designated newcomer center, more than 60 different languages and over 40 different countries from around the world are represented in the student body.

The school does not have a parent teacher organization in place but has many needs. The DLS PTA would like to help with their most pressing request: uniforms. The kids at the school wear uniforms, but many have just one or two that they wear throughout the week. We are asking for donations of new and used clothing in good condition for ages 4 through 13.

  • Khaki pants
  • Khaki shorts
  • Khaki jumpers
  • Polo shirts - white, navy blue, and baby blue colors only (no logo needed)
  • Athletic shoes in plain colors such as black or grey
  • Winter clothing

The DLS PTA has collection bins at both DLS West and DLS East. Please make sure all clothing is washed and in good condition prior to drop off, and thank you!

Please Save Your Box Tops for Education

Each pink box top, found on many products, is worth 10 cents when clipped and turned into the school. It adds up quickly; last year, Judit Varga coordinated the school’s efforts and raised $1,200. The goal is to earn $1,400 this year. Students can deposit box tops in collection boxes in their classrooms.

There will be three competitions to collect the most box tops this year, each with surprise rewards, so start saving them now! Learn more about the program and participating products at BTFE.com. Have any questions? Contact DLS West co-coordinator Tiffany Briseno or school coordinator Judit Varga via email jvarga23@yahoo.com.

Milk Caps for Mooola Fundraiser

MILK CAPS for MOOOLA is a program sponsored by Longmont Dairy that helps students earn money for their school and students. Longmont Dairy milk caps are worth 5¢ each and are redeemable for cash.  We have boxes for collection at both campuses.  Please bring in your caps!

Support DLS With Your Shopping

Did you know that you can support DLS just by shopping? Here are a few ways:

  • Buy grocery store cards from the PTA for King Soopers or Safeway from the front office at either campus. They will be also available at PTA events. Load your card before you make your purchase and use your card at checkout – 5% will go to DLS! These cards never expire and have no fees.
  • You can raise money for DLS by simply changing the way you log on to Amazon.  Use smile.amazon.com/ch/27-2484152 and Amazon will donate 0.5% of your purchase directly to DLS.  Learn more about AmazonSmile here.

  • Are you missing that cool DLS magnet? Get yours for $5 at the front desk of either campus or at Back on the Rack.

Be sure to tell your friends and family about these easy ways to support DLS! For more information, visit the Shopping page.

Corporate Matching

More than 15,000 employers will match employee donations – does yours? Last year more than $2,500 was donated by Janus and Google Benevity – huge thank yous to both the corporations and their generous employees! Any questions or issues with the process? Contact treasurer@dlspta.org.
